Craig Welsch is the owner of Fader Wire & Wood Custom Instruments. He began his musical journey by studying at the Berklee College of Music. After graduation he set up shop to make music as a recording engineer where he developed a unique attention to detail and tone. While working at the recording studio owned by Milt Reder, a gifted musician and friend, he was facinated by Milt's incredible collection of vintage instruments. Hearing Milt play his vintage instruments motivated Craig to identify the specific qualities that made these instruments sing in their exceptional way. And so began the quest; Through countless hours disecting pickups, measuring necks, weighing instruments, doing A/B comparisons Craig came to understand the many factors that enable an instrument to sound the way great vintage instruments do. It was always discouraging and unsatisfying to see very talented musicians come into the studio or perform live with instruments that just didnt sound very good. Craig decided to build some prototype studio instraments for musicians to use so that they could always maximize their talent to produce the highest quality music. Fader Customs was born when many great musicians decided they wanted to take these instruments home with them. Now you can also take Fader Custom Wire & Wood instruments home.
